Why it matters:
Identification using a unique heartbeat signature is far more reliable than for example face recognition or fingerprinting and has a 95%+ accuracy. It may change the way, people are identified unobtrusively from a distance.
The Pentagon has developed a method to do just that- for the battlefield as they claim, but use in public seems far more compelling, except that a measurement takes up to 30s at the moment, so the subject has to stand still..
